Winter Warmers

Even though we're getting a little break from the snow it's still cold out there, so I thought I'd show you some items to keep your little ones (and yourself) warm over the winter.

And last, but not least, something for the bigger kids!

New Members and Volunteers Welcome

The McEtsy Team is always happy to welcome new members. So if you are an Etsy seller and have links to Scotland please use the email address on the right to introduce yourself.

And if you are a member who has a little spare time to help out, or some great ideas about things we can do to promote and help our members, please step forward and let us know. This is your team and the more people we have involved the better.

Autumn Leaves

Yesterday I realised that the leaves are already beginning to turn here in the North of Scotland, and probably elsewhere too. This is one of my favourite times of year, so I have to admit to some joy in the prospect. Here are a few ways to remind yourself of the glories of Autumn all year round.

Brighten Up Your Day

As it's been rather grey of late, I thought it might be time to introduce a little bit of alternative sunshine for those who miss the real thing. First is something to brighten up yourself - you just couldn't feel gloomy wearing this.

Then a touch of colour for your home or office.

And last, but never least, some zing for your favourite walking buddy.

And don't forget there's only one week left to get your entries in for the Blog Button Challenge!

Butterfly Kiss

Anyone else remember butterfly kisses (fluttering your eyelash against someone's cheek) or is it just me? These beautiful, delicate creatures are one of my summer favourites but numbers are declining in many areas. So here is a reminder of how lovely they are and maybe a little prompt to add a few butterfly friendly flowers if you're doing any summer gardening.

I don't think butterflies need any more explanation than that!

Back to Normal

The McEtsy page is back in its rightful place on the Etsy teams pages. It had been moved to the 'European' section during the European week but has now been put back in 'Scotland' where it belongs :)

Hi everyone :)

I've been out of the picture for a very long time, (no kidding I hear you say )

I'm sorry some things ground to a halt, I hadn't realised things were not getting done.

I'm sure you were all despairing of the blog but I will try to give it CPR and make it live again :)

A lot of new members have been added to the members list.

Fell free to contact me with thoughts, gripes, complaints, ideas, jokes and or money :) (J/K)

hugs to you all
Michele

A New Start !

Hi All :)

I'd like to say thank you for the encouraging comments so far :) You should all be getting my mail today. If you haven't then that means you are not on the mailing list so send me your addresses if you want to be included. Don't worry, I don't spam your mailboxes :)

We have over 70 members now so I really think we have the makings of a great community !

As I said at the start of McEtsy, I don't want this to be a high pressure team where you have spend all your time promoting the team, I see it as becoming a friendly warm place where we can find help, support, information, advice or just a good blether, while at the same raising our Scottish profile where we can :)

I'm looking forward to hearing from you all :)

hugs
Michele (aka Littleshopofdelights)

The Holly and the Ivy .....

...When they are both full grown ....

Ahh the Season of merriment, mirth and mayhem is almost upon us all ! I picture us all beavering away completing those last minute orders, satisfying the demands of those last minute customers, while with the other hand we are compiling our lists of to do's and trying not to pull out too much hair. The big day is bearing down on us with the unstoppable inertia of a runaway express train, and if one more checkout girl at the supermarket says to me " are you all ready for Christmas?" I swear I shall I commit an offence with a Christmas cracker ! Ho Ho Ho !

'Tis the Season ...

...to be Merry fa la la la laaaaaa,

I'll spare you all the torture of my bathroom soprano :) suffice it to say that unless you have been living in a cave as a hermit this last year or so you will all be fully aware that the season of cheer and goodwill is about to descend on us, somewhat similar to an avalanche :) I have no doubt that a lot of us are getting very busy as the spectre, er I mean spectacle of Christmas ( or Yule depending on your leanings) approaches. With that in mind I will not be opening a chatroom until after the horrors, I mean festivities, have passed and we all breathe a sigh of relief :)

In the meantime, for those members who are relatively new to etsy and feeling their way around and need a bit of help and support, please do get involved in the McEtsy message board here:-

There is a section to ask questions and get help - see you there !

Getting to know each other.

I would like to pick up the tempo a little now that our team is growing even more, it may be slow but we are getting new members weekly if not daily at times :) I don't suppose we shall ever be a HUGE team, after all Scotland isn't the largest area on the map ! However, I believe that Scotland is a rich and fertile resource for 'craftiness' :) Look how much talent there is here already ! and we have only just begun really !

So, I would like to try to establish a regular weekly chatroom where we can all meet up to chew the fat, exchange ideas, seek and give help and advice, tell jokes, pat each other on the back, laugh together, cry together, support each other and anything else that comes up.

Previous polls seemed to point at Mondays being a good day for this but the trial nights did not prove very successful so I will try again now that our numbers have swelled even more :)

There will be 2 polls ... please take part !

feel free to contact me if you have any other ideas or suggestions

Use Your Tag Folks !

Don't forget that we have a 'team' tag now .. this tag can be used to add to your items tags, it is a searchable tag so put it to good use :)

The tag is - wait for it - --- McEtsy team ------ (without the dashes )

fionamacneil's Catwalk Creative Fashion Blog Interview

Got a mail from our member - fionamacneil, I thought it was very interesting and wanted to share it with you all.

Here is what fiona says ....

"Hi...........Just thought I'd share the link below with ~McEtsy~ as I was interviewed by Louise who owns ~Catwalk Creative Fashion Blog~. Louise is from Manchester and I met her on Indiepublic. She gave me the chance to answer some fun questions about myself and some questions on my glass jewellery to help me promote my Etsy shop. The reason I am writing actually is to tell you that I promoted Scottish Crafts big time and directed readers of the interview to use the tag (McEtsy) when searching on Etsy. I typed in the tag myself and saw other McEtsiers shops come up but wasn't sure whether everyone in the group was using their tagline to their advantage. It was fun doing the interview and I think Louise would be up for interviewing any McEtsiers who make work relating to fashion. Anyway, please have a read of the interview, especially my promotion of ~HANDMADE IN SCOTLAND~. I also put 'supporter of HANDMADE IN SCOTLAND 'at the end of each Etsy description for my items. Hope this has good outcomes for the group.........fiona :)"

Thanks fiona :)
